Glass decoration technologies

SILKSCREEN PRINTING

It is a decorating technique based on the overlapping of colors that allows the direct printing of any logo, graphics, design on the external surface of a glass container of any type (soda lime, recycled, borosilicate ...) as long as it is cylindrical or conical in shape.

The direct printing process works through frames with a steel matrix: the frame directly transfers the design and colors to the glass object of decoration.

The colors used in this process have two main features: inorganicity and heat-melting; the fact that they are glass-based inorganic means that once printed on the surface, the whole item can be subjected to a thermal firing process at 620°C thanks to which the two glasses penetrate one inside the other.

At the same time, the thermofusibility feature allows to make multiple color overlays in the same machine cycle, up to eight colors maximum.

Thus, on one hand the screen printing on glass and the paints vitrification, guarantee the maximum mechanical resistance of the product and on the other hand the maximization of production speed.

With the appropriate color overlay techniques, the most varied decorative effects can be obtained, from solid colors, to the fabric patterns, to the watercolor effect, in basically any color.

Each graphics must be subjected to a specific technical study to evaluate its feasibility or to adapt it and make it compliant with the technical structure.

PAD PRINTING

It is a decorating technique that allows the indirect printing of logos, graphics and drawings in maximum two colors on the surface of a glass container, where silkscreen printing cannot be applied it (for example on the foot or stem of a stemware glass or at the bottom of a tumbler.

In this case, the graphics are printed on a frame which, through a silicone breast, takes the image from the frame and transfers it to the surface of the object.

The colors used in this process are organic and after the decoration process, the product is subjected to a baking heat treatment that reaches 200°.

I colori utilizzati in questo processo sono di tipo organico e a decorazione avvenuta il prodotto viene sottoposto ad un trattamento termico di cottura che raggiunge i 200°.

DECORATING LASER AND NUCLEATION POINT

It is a glass decoratIng technique by etching with a CO2 system through which the energy generated produces a light beam (laser) that engrave the surface of the glass object.

This technique is used both for the external or internal decoration of the glass as in the case of customization with logos or to create a nucleation point inside the glass at the bottom that favors the perlage of bubbles typical of some wines, beers and sparkling drinks.

The laser technique can be used also in combination with other decorating techniques.

The DECOVER production lines are organized to satisfy requests for large productions: every year more than 45 million pieces of decorated glass leave our factories.
